The Ottawa Healthy Kids Community Challenge has kicked into high gear in recent months with a series of initiatives to promote physical activity, and healthy eating and lifestyle choices in children 12 years of age and under in the city’s 20 lowest-income neighbourhoods.

The 2016 soccer season is young, but the local Kevin Nelson Soccer Academy already has a big victory under its belt from the off-season boardroom. KNSA has been granted status as an Ontario Soccer Association-Recognized Non-Club Academy (ORNCA) – a relatively new classification the provincial sport governing body created in order to sanction the academies that don’t follow the traditional not-for-profit community club model.
