The University of Ottawa Gee-Gees women's softball team came tantalizingly close to knocking off the perennial queens of Ontario university fastball on the Oct. 20 weekend, but had to settle for silver in a 9-4 extra-innings defeat to the Western Mustangs.

The University of Ottawa Gee-Gees women's softball team dedicated its recent games to the memory of Jamie Hubley and wore "Acceptance" bracelets to raise awareness and money for suicide prevention in Ottawa. A former figure skater, Hubley committed suicide last year.

In time for the East Nepean Eagles to host the 2015 Canadian Little League championships, the City of Ottawa and Ontario governments committed $195,000 each to the construction of a media building that could help attract many more large baseball events over the long-term.
