The University of Ottawa Gee-Gees women's softball team came tantalizingly close to knocking off the perennial queens of Ontario university fastball on the Oct. 20 weekend, but had to settle for silver in a 9-4 extra-innings defeat to the Western Mustangs.

The University of Ottawa Gee-Gees women's softball team dedicated its recent games to the memory of Jamie Hubley and wore "Acceptance" bracelets to raise awareness and money for suicide prevention in Ottawa. A former figure skater, Hubley committed suicide last year.

Little League baseball in Barrhaven is about to get more of a big-league feel to it. In time for the East Nepean Eagles to host the 2015 Canadian Little League championships, the City of Ottawa and Ontario governments committed $195,000 each to the construction of a media building that could help attract many more large baseball events over the long-term.
