“Knees! Knees!”  The previously sedate crowd shouted as Matar Lo and Ben Dupuis held each other in the clinch. Seconds later, Dupuis was sent face-first into the mat by a head kick and a flurry of punches by Lo. The fighter from the Ottawa Academy of Martial Arts earned a TKO as the fight was stopped.

“In the fight business and in promoting, there is a lot of slimebags,” says Nick Castiglia, who has put on local Throwdown Muay Thai kickboxing and Wreck MMA events for five years. “That’s why I got into this. I just got tired of that.”
