Ottawa rowers haul in the medals at provincials

Ottawa Rowing Club boats won 14 provincial titles at the July 25-26 Ontario Rowing Championships in Welland. Multiple event winners included Matthew Fournier, Matthew Christie, Jenna Pelham, Kristen King, Megan Haley, Ashley Broadhurst, Gillian Cross and Hayley Watt.

Kate Goodfellow had to wait until the very end of the July 11-15 Pan Am Games rowing competition to get in on the Canadian medal party, but the Ottawa Rowing Club athlete joined in a big way with an emphatic victory in the women’s quadruple sculls event Wednesday morning in St. Catharines.

There was certainly some sting in the silver medal for Capital Wave water polo player Jessica Gaudreault as she and Team Canada were thoroughly beaten 13-4 by USA in the championship game of the Pan Am Games tournament Tuesday night in Markham.
