OSU player wins CONCACAF silver in Canada debut

Three days before Ottawa South United Force player Bella Hanisch played for Canada at the Aug. 9-21 CONCACAF U15 Championships in Orlando, she met her teammates for the first time, but that didn’t stop her Canadian team from bringing home a silver medal.

Futuro soccer team turns heads in UK

The Ottawa City Futuro under-12 boys’ soccer team scored nothing-but-wins over youth teams from five British professional clubs during a 10-day overseas trip in August.

The Futuro opened with a 4-2 victory over the Bristol Rovers, followed by 8-1 and 11-0 wins over Cardiff City and Swansea City. Then came a big 5-3 triumph over Southampton.

“They were absolutely shocked by our performance as the only teams that they struggle against are Manchester City and Chelsea,” reports Futuro coach Sanjeev Parmar by e-mail.

Isabella Hanisch (U14 girls), Matteo de Brienne (U14 boys), Kayza Massey (U15 girls), Daniel Assaf, Antonio Carlini, Mehdi Essoussi and Nana Nuama-Mensah (U15 boys), Emily Amano and Mollie Eriksson (U16 girls), and Barou Mbuyamba, Tony Mikhael and Montther Mohsen (U16 boys) represented Ontario during the annual Ontario vs Quebec matches in May.
