OSU alum Samake signs first pro deal with Montreal Impact

Abdou Samake became the latest Ottawa South United alum to sign a pro contract last month, moving up the ranks with the Montreal Impact onto the club’s USL side.
The 18-year-old defender is now training with FC Montreal – the reserve team for the Impact’s Major League Soccer franchise.

Nearing the midway mark of the Ontario Player Development League season, there is a whole of Ottawa at the top of the under-14 east division standings. The 6-2-1 Ottawa South United Force and West Ottawa Warriors are tied for first in boys’ play, while the 3rd-place OSU girls are 6-2-2 with West Ottawa next at 5-4-1.

Cap U ladies take 2nd in U21 Ontario Cup

The FC Capital United under-21 women’s team were the runners-up in Ontario Cup soccer. Made up of many players who helped the club to a groundbreaking Ontario Youth Soccer League east division title in 2013, Cap U beat Waterloo, Toronto and St. Catharines to reach the July 19 final in Oshawa, which they lost 2-1 to Burlington.
