Two-time Olympic hammer thrower Sultana Frizell of the Ottawa Lions Track-and-Field Club was not nominated for Canada’s track-and-field team despite hitting the international standards set out to make her eligible.

Simac, Canadian men’s volleyball team, end 24-year Olympic drought

It was a moment 24 years in the making. The last time the Canadian men’s volleyball team had qualified for the Olympics was 1992, but on June 5, after nervously watching from their hotel in Tokyo as Poland pulled out a 27-25 final set win over Australia, the drought was finally over, the result of that match sending Canada back to the biggest stage in sport.
