Ottawa added a pair of innovative new gym facilities around the holidays at the RA Centre and the Louis-Riel Dome.
Stretched thin by their lone gymnasium inside the school, the Louis-Riel sports-études program added a gym floor within the infield of Canada’s lone 400-metre indoor track at its Dome LR facility adjacent to the school. The new gym will create additional practice time for its existing teams and opens up the possibility of offering new programs.
The RA Centre gym popped up steps from the west entrance to replace the current gymnasium, which is being redeveloped as part of its House of Sport project, which will see a number of national sports organizations set up offices at the RA.
Though it can act as a temporary facility, the materials used in construction can either be repurposed to join it onto a future permanent development next to it, or be sold for use elsewhere.
