Jr. Sens alive and well, Wildcats fall in 2nd round of junior hockey playoffs
Updated On: April 6, 2017

The Ottawa Jr. Senators jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the Central Canada Jr. ‘A’ Hockey League semi-final playoff series with the Cornwall Colts thanks to 5-1 and 2-1 victories on Mar. 30 and Apr. 1.

The dominant Yzerman Division regular season champions knocked out the Brockville Braves 4-1 in the first round. In the Provincial Women’s Hockey League, the Nepean Wildcats missed a chance to clinch their second-round playoff series with Durham West in a shootout heartbreaker before bowing out with a 4-2 defeat in the deciding contest.

The Wildcats had experienced the reverse fate in the first round when Coralie Larose scored the shootout winner in the deciding game against Aurora. Nepean finished 5th overall in the regular season – but just a point out of 2nd – in the 20-team league with a 26-9-3 record.
