Local swimmers qualify for World Championships, FISU & Canada Games

Rio 2016 Olympic semi-finalist swimmer Erika Seltenreich-Hodgson will be back on the global stage this summer.

The Barrhaven native won a silver medal in the women’s 200-metre individual medley at the Team Canada Trials on Apr. 10 in Victoria and qualified to represent Canada at the July 14-30 FINA World Aquatics Championships in Hungary.

With 200 m gold and 50/100 m silvers, Greater Ottawa Kingfish product Eli Wall earned a berth on the Canadian world student games team.

GO Kingfish swimmer Regan Rathwell and David Quirie of the Nepean-Kanata Barracudas earned Team Ontario berths for the 2017 Canada Summer Games in Winnipeg thanks to their performances at the Apr. 20-23 Eastern Canadian Championships in Etobicoke.

Rathwell earned a silver medal in the girls’ age 13-15 100 m backstroke, while Quirie qualified based on his showing in the boys’ age 14-16 400 m freestyle.
