Tim Nedow kept up his exceptional track and field season by setting a new personal best throw of 21.02 m in the shotput at the North American Central American and Caribbean Championships. His all-time best toss was good for a silver medal at the games, which were held in Toronto. Last month, Nedow threw 20.94 at the Canadian Track and Field Championships in Ottawa, where he placed 1st.

Ottawa’s Alicia Brown also left the NACAC Championships with some hardware, finishing 3rd as part of Canada’s team in the 4×400 m relay. The U.S. placed 1st, with Jamaica finishing 2nd. Brown qualified for the team made up of her, Micha Powell, Aiyanna Stiverne and Travia Jones by placing 4th at the Canadian Track and Field Championships.

At the Cerebral Palsy World Games, Ottawa’s Julia Hanes won a silver medal in the F33 shot put, placing only behind Poland Lucyna Kornobys who won the gold medal with a world record toss. Hanes threw 6.45 m. The Ottawa Lions’ Rachael Burrows also won a medal at the games, finishing in 3rd place in the T34 100 m.
