YMCA-YWCA of the National Capital Region Team of the Month: Ottawa South United Force Under-17 Girls’ Soccer Team

By Ottawa Sportspage

About: The Ottawa South United U17 Girls made history this year by becoming the first team in Ontario Player Development League (OPDL) history to win all three of their division’s titles in one season. The feat, which has been dubbed the “treble” by the OPDL, consists of winning the midseason OPDL Cup, the cumulative OPDL regular season title and the OPDL Charity Shield, which is an end-of-season matchup between the top teams in each of the league’s divisions. The team captured the final of its trio of prizes, the Charity Shield, in a 2-0 win against North Toronto in a game played in Vaughan in the last weekend of September. OSU’s U17 Girls finished their OPDL season with a tally of 8 wins and only 1 loss and outscored opponents 27-5 in league play.

Team Roster: Alysse Hanisch, Anna Demarbre, Carolyne Beaudoin, Dominique Clarke, Evelyn Arseneault, Juliann Lacasse, Marissa Gravel, Mattson Strickler, Maya Smith, Nibonile Dlamini, Nyah Slusarenko, Sofia Iaderosa, Taylor Saunders, Tessa Frangione, Tristan McFarlane, Claire Rea and developmental players Claire Borne, Elli Traboulsi, Jade Taylor-Ryan, Katherine Chadwick, Katie Broadhurst, Katie Richardson, Madolyn Bush, Naa-Adorkor Ocquaye Spearing and Shannon Phee.
